Men behaving badly: sexist t-shirt slogans

More evidence that sexism is alive and well in this country. Sleazy t-shirt manufacturer badhabit.com.au thinks these t-shirt slogans are funny. Well I’m not laughing. Are you?

Badhabit.com.au also thinks supposed ‘fat girls’ are a blight on the landscape. On the home page of their website is a photograph of four obese women in bikinis (because we all know the only useful woman, is a partially unclothed one) with the words: “I bought a t-shirt from Bad Habit, so people don’t notice my face looks like a used welding bench”. Of course, no reference is made to Bad Habit’s beer-bellied customers. But the website does have quite a lengthy legal disclaimer which they admit was written because it “covers our ass in court”. So we can assume this Australian company knows their product is offensive, but they just don’t give a damn.

Update – 31 January 2008

The badhabit.com.au website has been pulled off the Internet. I don’t know why the website is down, or whether this appalling example of sexism disguised as tasteless humour will be back in business. Let’s hope sexism isn’t a rife in this country as we once thought and that the morons behind badhabit.com.au have gone out of business.

This reminds me of t-shirthell.com. While some of their shirts are indeed funny, I could never buy one from them because of the shirts they sell that are terribly offensive, especially to women. However, most of their shirts are slogans people sent in so you can’t say too much for the customers, as you touched upon in this post.

The anti-male t-shirts you refer to do not condone the ‘rape’ of men, do they?

During my research for this post I did come across t-shirt hell and I agree with you, the slogans on this site are appalling. I would have included the t-shirt hell slogans here as well, but it is a US website and this website has an Australian focus. But I would like to see women bloggers in the US discuss this issue there.

I agree that some of the tshirt slogans these days are very offensive to women. But, for the most part, I think they are meant to be jokes. I dont like the rape one AT ALL! There is no way rape should be ridiculed or made to seem like it isnt important or a crime for that matter.
I dont think its that serious with those shirts… just the rape one is very offensive, degrading, and obnoxious.

These shirts are horrible. What man would actually want to wear one of these?
