With a budget of $1000, six weeks preparation time and a celebrity model to showcase their designs, the finalists in the Chambord® Shine Awards™ took to the catwalk last night hoping to impress the judges Peter Morrissey, Genevieve and Alexandra Smart of GINGER&SMART, Kate Harrowsmith of maire claire and Kate Mansour of Chambord.
AJE, Ben Smith, Michelle Czech, Carlos Bouman, Lia Tismos, Dhini, Ruby Smallbone, Sonya Kraan, Alvin Manolo all created breathtakingly stunning gowns each as varied and unique as the next. The beautiful Chadwick and Mod Squad models were flawlessly styled by the Napoleon makeup and Aveda hair care teams.
Design trio AJE were crowned 2009 Chambord Shine Award winners with their stunning pink sequin gown. AJE, known for their dishevelled elegance and tough femininity is a creative collaboration between Eddi, Aje and Bree. Last year established the Chambord® Shine Awards to help foster, grow and showcase emerging fashion designers in what is recognised globally as a highly competitive industry. Chambord® will be working with marie claire again this year to offer ten Australian designers the chance to secure a two page advertorial in Australia’s No.1 Fashion magazine and be mentored by some of the best designers in the business today.
In 2008 the inaugural Chambord® Shine Awards engaged ten exciting and diverse, up and coming fashion designers including Antipodium, Romance Was Born, Ben Pollitt, Dana Malawi and Jessie Hill to design unique creations reflecting the luxurious nature of Chambord® with a budget of $1000 each. Australian fashion icon Peter Morrissey will join forces with Australia’s leading discount department store BIG W to launch a new range of stylish clothes at affordable prices.
Peter Morrissey will team up on the project with fashion entrepreneur Bruno Schiavi whose previous design collaborations with Delta Goodrem and Brett Lee have already proved huge successes for BIG W.
