At the tender age of 28, Zoë Warne (pictured) has built a successful and dynamic career carving out her own special niche in the fast-paced world of online strategy and communications. She is co-founder of August – a Melbourne-based digital agency, and is a regular co-presenter with Jon Faine on 774 ABC Radio, where she is infecting the airwaves with her own unique brand of energy and enthusiasm.
A unique blend of youthful optimism and business savvy and pragmatism, Zoe Warne is an excellent role model for young women in the digital industry – an industry heavily dominated by males. When listed in 2009’ Who’s Who of Australian Women, she was one of only 3% of women aged 30 and under, who made the cut.
A natural-born entrepreneur, Zoe was only 18 when she established the graphic design division of her stepfather’s consultancy firm, to help subsidise her university tuition fees.
In 2005, Zoë and her partner Daniel Banik, keen to explore the opportunities presented by emerging online technologies, started August. Today August is one of the fastest-growing, independent digital agencies in the country and boasts a rapidly expanding client list that includes Fosters Group, Snowgum, Yarra Valley Water and La Trobe University.
At a time when most businesses are down-sizing, Zoe Warne has doubled the team at August in the past 12 months – an achievement which hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Australian business community. Zoe was included in the SmartCompany ’30 Hit Entrepreneurs Under 30’ list in 2008 and 2009, and was a finalist in 2008 MyBusiness Award for ‘Best Young Gun in Small Business’.
A true believer in passing on what she has learned to the next generation of business women, Zoe Warne has become a mentor to young women in the digital industry and has been a guest speaker at RMIT, Online Divas and various girls’ schools across Melbourne.
