About

“Half the world’s population, but not with half the share of wealth, wellbeing and opportunity. And certainly, women do not get half of media attention, or an equal voice in expression – only 22 percent of the voices you hear and read in the news today are women’s.” [Women in the News: Gender Wire, IPS]

Australian Women Online (AWO) is web publisher of business, career and lifestyle content for women.  Launched on 10 October 2007, the website has grown to become one of the most popular and most respected websites for women in Australia. AWO publishes quality content in the categories of: lifestyle; small business; work and career; books and authors; health and wellbeing; beauty and fashion; and other topics of interest to women.

AWO also maintains a Games channel targeted to women who want to take some time out.

Our key demographic is women over 30 in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific Region, but the website also receives a significant number of visitors from North America and the European Union.

Accolades: On 24 January 2008 we were selected by the National Library of Australia (NLA) as an electronic publication of national significance and lasting cultural value. Only 1 per cent of websites are selected for inclusion into the NLA’s national databases and Pandora web-archive, an achievement we are very proud of here at Australian Women Online.
